Popular Grand Lake Restaurant Getting New Home

A popular Grand Lake restaurant with boat docks out front is getting a new home.

Island Joe's at Shangri-La Marina is closing at the end of this season.

The bar and restaurant has been an institution at the resort property since the 1970s; but don’t worry, Shangri-La said the restaurant will be part of the new 120-room four-story hotel being built next door.

"It's due a little shine up, a little facelift, and we decided, 'what the heck, we'll just move across the parking lot to the other end,’” said Mike Williams with Shangri-La Resort. “So the new outdoor bar and grill will be attached to the hotel and will be adjacent to the resort style pool and still have a beautiful lake view, still boating access, just moving up, moving out."

The new hotel and restaurant is expected to open in April.
