After yesterday's scattered showers and thunderstorms across part of northeastern Oklahoma, dryer and cooler air will eventually move across the area later today. This will usher in very nice weather conditions later this afternoon through Friday with a noticeable cool down before we warm into the early part of the Labor Day holiday period. The warmer air will stick around for most of next week. Before all of this occurs we’ll continue to be in the running for some precipitation across part but not all of the area this morning.
The synoptic front is still located to the north of our immediate area this morning, but dryer air will eventually spread southward later today. This will act to scour the low-level moisture and push it across southern Oklahoma and north Texas. Before this occurs, we’ll see a chance for a few showers this morning near the metro with most activity moving southward by mid-morning. Locations along and south of the I-40 corridor region will have a better chance of precipitation continuing through the midday to early afternoon period.
Temperature later today will top out into the mid-80s across Northern Oklahoma with northeast winds at 10 to 15 mph. The morning clouds will also give away as dry air advances southward and the sky will clear from the northeast to the south by mid-day through early afternoon.
The presence of mainly clear sky and light wind combined with the anticipated dry air mass will allow Friday morning lows to reach the upper 50s and lower 60s. Afternoon highs will move into the mid-80s along with mostly sunny conditions and north winds at 10 miles per hour.

Saturday morning lows may drop into the lower or mid-fifties across far Northeastern Oklahoma with upper 50s near the Tulsa metro.
Late Saturday morning south winds will return across the area. This is a signal for a minor yet noticeable warming trend Saturday and Sunday, but a more noticeable warm-up Monday and Tuesday of next week. Another storm system will move across the central part of the country for the middle of next week and this should bring another storm system near the state with increased shower and storm chances for the middle to end of next week. The EURO continues to suggest a weak system may move across East TX into southeastern OK Monday evening.
Thanks for reading the Thursday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
