A Tulsa man is showing his support for fallen police officers by walking from Tulsa to Washington, D.C. starting this weekend.

Derek Hardin will start his journey at the Tulsa Police Officer's Memorial and walk nearly 1,400 miles to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Derek Harden states on his Facebook page, “Journey to Honor Fallen Officers”, how he has “been deeply touched on a personal level by the recent killings of officers in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Kansas City.

"I have been touched so much I have begun my own special way of honoring the memory of those fallen officers,” said Hardin.

His journey begins Saturday at 9 a.m. from the memorial site at the Tulsa Police Academy at 6066 East 66th Street North.

Derek Hardin expected to reach the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial by December.

A friend of Hardin has set up a GoFunding page to benefit Concern of Police Survivors, or C.O.P.S. , which assists families of officers killed in the line of duty.
