Owner Burns Old Lazy D Motel In Oologah

The old Lazy D motel burned down overnight in Oologah. The business had been empty for decades.

The Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District said the owner decided to burn it down as it had been vandalized over the years. They were seen out bulldozing the area the day before, apparently preparing for the burn.

The property is located in the south business district on an arm of Highway 169 that was bypassed when the Oklahoma Department of Transportation widened the highway about 20 years ago.

It contained a restaurant, several motel rooms and some mobile homes.
