Oklahoma residents brought out signs and American flags to Back the Blue Sunday outside Smashburger, 71st and Garnett.

The event, organized by the Law Enforcement and Supporters for Media Accountability and the Oklahoma Open Carry Association, encouraged residents to show support for law enforcement.

"We're getting a great turnout, great support from everybody," said event organizer Gary Stiner.

"Show the police officers we're here for them," he said. "If they're in trouble, we've got their backs."

Organizer Amanda Miller was out all morning and said the majority of community members support police officers.

"It's just the silent majority," she said. "It's time for the silent majority to open their mouth and actually do something about it."

Smashburger offered free drinks to supporters and free meals to any officer that stopped by, Stiner said.
