Oklahoma high school football teams had an option this year to start the season a week early, allowing for a bye week later on. It's called week zero and it takes place next Friday.
On Thursday night, one of the final tune-ups for the handful of schools getting a jump on things was the Union Gridiron Classic.
Broken Arrow beat Mustang 14-7 in the Classic's opening game.
Later, Owasso took on Westmoore who is coached by former Mizzou Tiger Lorenzo Williams.
The Rams passing game led to a 7-0 lead when Troy Hudson found Jaylen Johnson for a 46-yard touchdown.
Hudson later found the end zone again, rolling out right to put Owasso up 14-0.
But the Jaguars didn’t ease up. Braxton George found the middle for a TD run, helping Westmoore wrap the game with a 28-28 tie.
In the final matchup, the Redskins took on Edmond Santa Fe in a half game.
Union moved the ball early. A touchdown from Kortney Holmes made it 7-0 as the Redskins went on to win 24-14.
