A Tulsa man charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 5-year-old son pleaded guilty Thursday.
Bryon Creech also pleaded guilty to shooting with intent to kill, kidnapping, child abuse by injury, child neglect, second-degree burglary and violation of a protective order.
Police say the 38-year-old shot and killed his son after breaking into his then-estranged wife's apartment. His wife was at work when Creech broke in and barricaded himself and his son inside, but she called police after seeing him on surveillance cameras.
Officers said they heard him fire 10 shots shortly after they got to the apartment complex. They negotiated with Creech for 17 hours before he finally surrendered.
Police found his son, Braydon, dead inside the apartment.
After entering a plea of insanity, then changing his mind after requesting to represent himself, ultimately being represented by a public defender, Creech pleaded guilty to seven counts connected to the crime
