Pawhuska Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, August 17 due to a city-wide boil order, according to Superintendent Janet Neufeld.
Wednesday was supposed to be the first day of school for the district. They will post updates on their website, the superintendent's office said.
The closure is for the safety of students and staff, Neufeld said in a release.
"Due to the maintenance it takes to prepare and sanitize buildings, and the timeline when we receive information from city officials, we need adequate time for district safety operations," the release states.
"The district has a filed and approved water safety preparation plan from the Osage County Health Department and Oklahoma State Department of Health to operate under the boil order."
The decision whether to hold classes will be made on a day-to-day basis. You can also check for updates on the school system's Facebook page.
