Authorities are looking for a car believed involved in a fatal hit and run accident late Saturday east of Independence, Kansas.
Deputies were called the scene on Highway 160 after a body was found beside the road. Montgomery County Sheriff Bobby Dierks says the crash happened sometime between 9:18 p.m. and 9:32 p.m. near where highway intersects with Highway 169.
The name of the pedestrian has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
He says evidence from the scene indicates the car is a 1990s model gray Pontiac Bonneville with chrome trim. Investigators say the car should have significant damage to the front passenger headlight, mirror and windshield.
If seen, you are asked to call the Kansas Highway Patrol at 620-431-2100 or the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 620-330-1000.
