Appeals Court Upholds Tulsa Man's Life Sentence In Fatal Stabbing

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld a Tulsa man's life without parole sentence for a 2015 first-degree murder conviction.

The appeals court rejected claims from 40-year-old Terry Hansen, who stabbed 29-year-old Wesley Westcott to death in July 2014.

A Tulsa police affidavit says Hansen told detectives he went to a residence where the stabbing occurred "because he had been burned on a dope deal" and wanted to "make it right." The dealer never appeared, but Westcott did and Hansen allegedly stabbed him in the back of the neck.

Among other things, the court rejected Hansen's claim that prosecutors committed misconduct during his trial.
