Just days before the start of school, the principal at Tulsa's Nathan Hale High School announced his resignation.

The school district says Caleb Starr resigned for reasons they would not disclose, because it is a personnel matter.  TPS says Sheila Riley, recently named principal of Clinton Middle School, will instead become principal of Hale High School.

Clinton, according to Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist, will be led by an interim principal.

Staff memo from Dr. Deborah Gist:

I am writing to share some updates on district leadership positions.

As you know, Caleb Starr has resigned from his position as principal of Hale High School. We are grateful for his service to Tulsa children and families, and we wish him well in his future endeavors. Moving forward, Sheila Riley has been selected as the new principal for Hale High School. While Sheila had been recently selected to assume the principal role at Clinton Middle School, we know her background and experience are well suited to support the needs of Hale High School.

At Clinton Middle School, two existing team members will step into school leadership positions. Clinton’s Assistant Principal Michelle Brown has been appointed to serve as interim principal. School Administrative Manager Chad Beesley will assume the role of interim assistant principal. I am confident that Michelle and Chad are well-prepared to step into these roles and continue supporting the wonderful work happening at Clinton.

Please join me in welcoming Sheila, Michelle, and Chad into these new leadership roles.
