Police arrested a Tulsa man wanted in a June 28 shooting death after a one-car crash on Highway 169 Monday night.

Officers said Marcus Boyd, 27, crashed his car on the highway near 11th Street just before midnight. That's about a block away from the east side police station.

When police arrived Boyd identified himself to officers.

Prosecutors charged Marcus Boyd last week with first-degree murder and three other felonies in the death of 17-year-old Daniel Carter.

Police said the shooting happened on Virgin Street near Madison in late June. They said Carter was shot and killed while sitting in the front passenger seat of a friend's car.  The shooter also hit a 16-year-old girl sitting in the back seat. She survived. Two other people in the car were not injured.

Detectives are still looking for more witnesses to come forward, saying this is their opportunity to make a difference in this case.

Jail records show Marcus Boyd is being held without bond pending a August 9 court appearance.
