A judge sentenced a man to life in prison without parole Tuesday for crimes he committed in Kansas while fleeing from Oklahoma police.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says Alejandro Garcia was sentenced Tuesday for attempted capital murder and other crimes.

Authorities allege Garcia and two others fled after shooting a police officer in Oologah in May 2015.

The officer, Charles Neill survived his injuries.

Garcia drove into Kansas, stole a pickup truck after firing at the driver and then shot at Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Grimes, who was not injured.

After a long standoff, officers found Garcia in a home near Liberty, Kansas.

Garcia still faces charges in Oklahoma in the shooting of the Oologah officer.
