A Fort Gibson woman is dead after a two-car wreck in Muskogee County Monday night. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers investigated the fatality crash that took place around 8 p.m. on Highway 62 at 2 Mile Road.

Troopers said Regan Thompson was northbound on 2 Mile Road when she failed to yield at the marked median and pulled into the pathway of a westbound car.

The driver of that car, 45-year-old Bret Adams of Tahlequah, was taken to the hospital where troopers said he is stable with internal injuries. His passenger, 66-year-old Johnie Oakball, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee Nation EMS, according to a collision report.

Troopers said the 19-year-old Thompson was admitted to a hospital with internal injuries. She was said to be stable.

Troopers said both drivers were wearing seat belts.  They list the cause of the crash as failure to yield from yield sign.
