Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Fatal DUI Crash

A judge sentenced a man to life in prison Tuesday for the DUI crash that killed Kendra Gonzalez last year.

Prosecutors say Derlin Lara was drunk in April of 2015 and driving the wrong way on Highway 20 when he hit Kendra's car, head-on.

It was right before her 21st birthday and she was working two jobs and had applied to nursing school.

Police say Lara admitted he'd had several beers. He had an open beer and a bottle of Tequila in his car.

They say he's here illegally from Honduras and had no driver's license.
