If you're hiring people to help clean up after the storms, there are new warnings about scams as you get ready to hire people to help clean up after last week's storm.

If you have damage to your home, the BBB stresses you shouldn't make emotional, hasty decisions. Instead, Amie Mitchell, CEO Of BBB Eastern Oklahoma, says "do your research."

The BBB says:

  • Ask some basic questions if someone offers to help with storm cleanup, such as how many projects like yours have they completed in the last year?
  • Ask for references.
  • Ask if they have certified arborists on staff and what trade associations they're members of.
  • When it comes to roof repair, have a written contract, make sure the people working on your property are insured.
  • And always get three to four estimates

Because as BBB representatives will tell you, if a price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
