Michael Snyder has lived at his home for the past four years. When the storms hit Thursday afternoon he was at work and got a phone call saying his home didn't make it.
"It just happened so fast, it was too late," he said.
Snyder hurried home and turned onto his street, only to have his worst fears realized.
"I've worked my life to get to right where I got, and what I got," he said. “It's devastating to see, to see everything destroyed."
Snyder’s dog of seven years was inside when the storm came through; but thanks to his crate, he made it.
"That saved his life,” Snyder said. “I mean, if he hadn't been in it he would have been crushed,"
Powerful winds came through, picked up or rolled Snyder’s home and ripped it apart, scattering his personal belongings everywhere, including a treasured keepsake from when his mom passed.
"I found stuff like this, this is from her funeral," he said.
It’s one of the many things he's grateful to have not lost.
"There wasn't anybody killed, there wasn't anything killed, it just could have been a lot worse," said Snyder.
He's left sifting through what's left of his belongings, trying to salvage what he can with the help of friends and family.
"No better people I've ever met in my life. People that are willing to drop what they're doing and come out and help you," Snyder said.
Snyder's home is a total loss.
