A man gardening in a west Tulsa neighborhood was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning, according to Tulsa Police. It happened shortly before 7 a.m. near 20th and South Jackson.

That's near 21st and Southwest Boulevard.

George Hawkins said he was watering plants outside his home when a man approached him and demanded his wallet.

Hawkins thought it was a joke at first until the suspect pointed a gun at his face.

"He said, 'give me your *^&#)% wallet, or I'll blow your brains out,'" he said. "I said, 'OK,' and handed it to him."

The crime victim said he tried to call police on his cell phone but ended up asking a jogger to call it in. He wasn't hurt and just hopes police catch the robber so no one else is victimized.
