Off-and-on storms over the past few days have helped to give some of us a brief, well-deserved reprieve from the nasty summer heat. Unfortunately, the heat is back on the increase as those storm chances start to fade away!
Sunnier skies are on tap for the majority of our Sunday, which will help push our afternoon highs back into the 90s today. Of course, as we know this time of year that’s only part of the story… tack on the humidity and it will be feeling much hotter with heat index values climbing well above 100 this afternoon. Yuck! Make sure you are staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks during any outdoor activities.
As afternoon heating takes place, a few additional storms could flare up primarily across extreme eastern Oklahoma and southeastern Oklahoma. The chance for any one location to see a storm is low with just a 10 percent to 20 percent chance this afternoon, but just be aware as you plan your afternoon activities.
Some very typical July heat will be settling in as we head into the upcoming work week, with morning lows in the upper 70s and afternoon highs in the mid-upper 90s becoming pretty common, along with those nasty heat index values pushing well over the 100 degree mark. Stay cool!
