Michael Bowie says his journey back to the NFL is like an uphill climb.
Bowie started nine games his rookie year and became a Super Bowl champion in Seattle, but he had to sit out the last two seasons with a shoulder injury.
"This is like a bounce back year for me, to get myself right, to get myself 100 percent healthy and get out there and showcase my talent like I was able to do my rookie year," said Bowie.
He's starting a new chapter in Cleveland.
"You have a lot of doubts because it's back-to-back years, so if it's meant to be, I'll be out there balling," he stated.
Competition for a roster spot is steep for the Browns. Two pro bowlers anchor the line, and he has to fight off another lineman from Green Country in Broken Arrow's Alvin Bailey.
"We just go out there and challenge each other. We played ball as kids, so when we go out there, [the]only thing on our minds [are] compete and win," added Bowie.
There's an Oklahoma flair to the Browns; Oklahoma State’s Emmanuel Ogbah and Justin Gilbert and Oklahoma’s Dominique Alexander also are on the current roster.
But Bowie's focus is the grind to get back on an NFL roster, starting with running up Tisdale Hill.
"Every rep I take is personal,” he explained. “When I came out of college I should have been a second [or] third round guy, but everything happens for a reason. Now, [the] only thing left to do is prove it."
