Muskogee Police are investigating a report of larceny from an attorney representing the Gap Band. The alleged theft was reported June 26 following a recent Gap Band performance in the city.

A police report states the city wired $19,000 to New York to pay the band, but the check was reportedly embezzled.

Acting City Manager Roy Tucker said the city paid the band's agent, according to Muskogee Now. Tucker was later told the agent didn't forward the money to the band and could not be reached.

Tucker told Muskogee Now the city will cooperate with the investigation.
