EMSA is warning northeastern Oklahoma residents to take extra care if they have to be outside in Thursday's heat. The emergency services agency said they treated five people for heat-related illnesses Wednesday.

Three of those people were at ONEOK Field for the Driller's baseball game.

The team has another game scheduled for Thursday night - with temps again reaching into the 90s. Tulsa Tough is also taking place this weekend with 90s in the forecast and thousands expected downtown.

EMSA said it's important to take action to prevent heat-related illness. Be sure to drink plenty of water or other beverages that don't contain alcohol or caffeine. Wear loose, light-colored clothing and a hat with a wide brim if you're working outdoors. Take plenty of shade breaks, and while you're at it - don't forget the sunscreen.

Use the buddy system if working outdoors, and check on elderly neighbors.

EMSA has cooling centers open if you need a break from the heat.
