We’re learning more about a Colorado triple-murder suspect who has a criminal history in Oklahoma.
Police arrested Chad Evans along U.S. Highway 75 and 76th Street North after Denver detectives suspected he’d fled to Oklahoma following the weekend murders.
Evans was in a car with some other people who pulled over when they realized police were following them.
Evans got out of the car, the vehicle drove off, and police took Evans into custody.
Evans, a former University of Tulsa defensive end, was escorted through the Tulsa Police Department in handcuffs.
Investigators in Denver said the shooting happened during a drug deal--four people were shot, three died.
When asked if he killed anyone, Evans had this to say.
“No, no.”
This isn't Evans' first run-in with police.
He has a history of recent arrests here in Tulsa.
Evans faces felony drug charges with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony and child neglect from February.
But it doesn't stop there: Evans also was arrested for aggravated robbery and pointing a firearm in April. The arrest affidavit claims Evans hitched a ride with a friend and tried to rob him at gunpoint.
According to online court records, Evans' arraignment for both of those crimes is set for June 10.
We also looked into the former football player's short stint at TU in 2005.
The university says he was dismissed the next season for breaking team rules, but officials would not elaborate.
Right now, we're waiting to hear from the district attorney whether Evans will stay in Tulsa to be arraigned on charges here or if he’ll be extradited to Colorado to face murder charges there.
