The Memorial Day holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer travel season and Tulsa International Airport says travelers should be prepared for possible delays at security checkpoints.
According to AAA, 38 million Americans will travel this summer, that's the most since 2005.
Tulsa International Airport says flights leaving this weekend are expected to operate near capacity and passengers should plan plenty of time for the check in and security screening process.
TIA is advising passengers to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled departure time.
At bigger airports, like Denver and Chicago, wait times for getting through airport security have stretched into several hours due to a national shortage of TSA screeners.
