Heavy rain late Tuesday is being blamed for a fuel leak which closed several streets in downtown Sapulpa.
Authorities say the fuel was coming from an old underground storage tank at a former gas station in the 200 block of Dewey Avenue.
At around 11 p.m. the Sapulpa Fire Department got calls of gasoline fumes coming from several storm drains. Firefighters traced the leak back to the old fuel tank. They believe rainwater flowing into the tank forced the gasoline out.
Police shut off some several nearby streets for a couple of hours while crews cleaned up the fuel.
