Newfield Exploration confirms that they are laying off workers in the Tulsa area. Newfield Exploration is an independent energy company headquartered in the Woodlands, Texas. They specialize in the exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, according to their web site.
Cindy Hassler, spokesperson for the company, said they are consolidating operations and all but shutting down the Tulsa office. There are a total of 200 employees at that branch, according to Hassler, who said about 75 percent of them will get offers to relocate to the Woodlands.
The company plans to keep a presence in Oklahoma with about 100 employees including 10 employees at a small Tulsa office, she said. Others are in field offices, Hassler said.
Their Mid-Continent domestic operations have been run from the Tulsa office, according to the Newfield Exploration website. The company has plans to purchase $470 million in Oklahoma assets from a subsidiary of Chesapeake Energy including about 42,000 net acres in the Anadarko Basin, according to Zacks.com.
