A Tulsa man was injured when his car rolled and landed upside down in a water-filled ditch. Joel Washington, 45, was taken by medical helicopter to the hospital where he is said to be stable with internal and arm injuries.

Washington crashed on 131st Street North at Hartford Avenue, a half mile east of Skiatook. Troopers told News On 6 some people working on a disabled car heard the crash just after midnight Tuesday and called 911.

Washington was westbound when his Ford Taurus went off the road at a curve, striking a sign and rolling. His head was above the water in the shallow creek or ditch.

Troopers say he was wearing a seatbelt. Cause of the wreck is listed as unsafe speed on a curve.
