A teenager is in police custody after officers say the teen stole a car and led them on a chase.
Around 4:00 Friday afternoon, police said a person flagged them down, concerned about a possible stolen car in the parking lot of Mitchell Elementary School.
When they arrived, police said the driver of a black SUV drove off and officers chased it until it crashed in the front yard of a house near Sheridan and Latimer.
Corporal Wyatt Poth said, "You can see the car slid up the curb, busted the wheel out - literally busted the wheel out - slid into the grass. Two of these people witnessed the whole thing and the driver, of course, bailed."
Officers caught the SUV driver and arrested him on weapons charges. The other teens in the car were released to their parents.
There was another car involved. The second vehicle, police say was stolen, crashed in the Mitchell School parking lot.
