The interim Wagoner County Sheriff has appointed an undersheriff, a news release says.
Sheriff Dan David appointed jail administrator Capt. Chris Cook. Cook will continue to oversee the jail as well as be given new administrative assignments, officials say.
Cook began his law enforcement career with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office in 2008. He was an administrative deputy there until being hired by Wagoner County last week.
“Cook’s service has developed from his initial role as a detention officer, progressing to specializing in several critical roles throughout the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center in Tulsa,” a news release says. “Undersheriff Cook’s law enforcement career has also included work as a Designated Immigration Officer with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the Department of Homeland Security and detention liaison for United States Marshals Service.”
David is a retired U.S. marshal who was sworn in as sheriff on Monday. He replaced suspended sheriff Bob Colbert, who was indicted by a grand jury for charges including bribery and extortion.
