Gore Public Schools canceled classes Thursday morning due to a police standoff.

Superintendent Lucky McCrary said a man had barricaded himself inside a mobile home near the district's elementary school.

The sheriff's office said Colton Cheater, 25, threatened his girlfriend following an overnight crash on Highway 64.  When the girlfriend called 911, deputies were sent to the home.

When deputies arrived at the mobile home park, they say Cheater threatened them, and the standoff began.  After he surrendered several hours later, deputies booked Colton Cheater into the Sequoyah County jail.

School officials say classes in the school district were canceled for the day because of student safety concerns.
