The U.S. Secretary of Education is paying a visit to Tulsa Friday.

Secretary John King Jr. is visiting Will Rogers College Junior and Senior High to promote the importance of a well-rounded education.

King will discuss the new Every Student Succeeds Act which was signed into law back in December.  The law aims to provide students with access to science, social studies, arts and other courses while ensuring strong math and literacy skills.

"I think we have real challenges as a country we worry about the achievement gaps, we worry about the students who are graduating underprepared for college and careers, but we also have momentum there is progress we have made and progress we can build on," said John King, Jr.

King was joined by Tulsa Public School Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist.
