Recap of Tuesday night win over OSU:

A three-run home run from Michael Hungate in the fourth inning helped push the Oral Roberts baseball team to a 4-0 shutout win over No. 27 Oklahoma State Tuesday night in Stillwater.

The Golden Eagle pitching staff combined to allow just three hits on the night, and just one hit in the final seven innings of play.

Freshman Josh McMinn earned his third victory of the season after tossing three shutout innings, not allowing a hit while striking out one.

Grant Glaze, Holden Cammack, and Brady Womacks finished the game, going an inning each and striking out seven of the last 11 Cowboy hitters. Glaze retired the side in the seventh.

The Golden Eagles were able to extend their lead in the eighth inning after the Cowboys walked Matt Whatley to lead off the frame before Noah Cummings picked up a double to the gap for his first base hit of the night.

Junior Brent Williams earned a base after taking a pitch off the helmet. That was when Rolando Martinez picked up an RBI after drawing the bases-loaded walk, increasing the ORU lead to 4-0.

The Cowboys best chance came in the sixth inning after getting two runners on base. Nathan Garza fielded a groundball back to the mound to end the OSU threat.

The Golden Eagles now trail the series with Oklahoma State, 34-32 and have won eight of the last 10 and the last three games in the series.

ORU improved to 3-0 against the BIG 12 after wins over Oklahoma, Kansas State and the Cowboys.

Oral Roberts left nine runners on base, including two bases-loaded situations.

Nick Rotola (17), Matt Whatley (15) and Brent Williams (17) each extended their reached base streaks in the game.

Michael Hungate's three-run home run in the fourth was the first of his career in an ORU uniform.

Lefty Taylor Varnell saw his first action since March 20 and made the most of his start. The sophomore threw two innings, struck out four and allowed just two hits in his outing.

ORU and the Cowboys will play one more game this season. The teams will meet in Tulsa May 17 with a scheduled start time of 6:30 p.m.
