A Turley woman has been arrested for arson after police say she set two house fires near 66th Street North and Peoria. The Turley Fire Chief is keeping an eye on the scene but couldn't say what the possible motive could be.

Valerie Whitsell, 30, is in jail accused of first- and second-degree arson.

Around 10:30 p.m., Tulsa County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic situation in the 6500 block of North Norfolk. When in the course of that investigation, a deputy spotted two house fires burning nearby.

A sheriff's sergeant said several witnesses saw Whitsell running in and out of houses. The front of one of the homes went up and flames a few minutes after she ran out, deputies were told.

Deputies found another fire set on the porch of a nearby home.

Whitsell's address on the jail website is listed in the 6500 block of North Norfolk, near both house fires.

Records also show she just bonded out of jail Tuesday on three misdemeanor complaints.

A man was also arrested in connection to the domestic disturbance. Damien Dwayne Gilbert, 34, was intoxicated and cursing at neighbors. He was booked on a complaint of public drunk and violation of a protective order. His address is the same as Whitsell's, records show.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.
