An employee for Union Public Schools has been diagnosed with meningitis.
According to the district, the employee works for the Darnaby Extended Day Program and was diagnosed with gram-positive bacterial meningitis and said the illness is not characterized as highly contagious.
The district said it contacted the Tulsa County Health Department and, according to their epidemiologist, this particular type of meningitis is not associated with past cases that have been publicized in other districts.
According to a release by the district, as a precaution, the custodial staff is taking extra time to clean.
