Four Edison High School staff members are "Everyday Heroes."

EMSA honored them on Friday for saving the life of 17-year-old Deshawn Caldwell.

Caldwell collapsed during a school basketball game in February.

Head coach Michael Parish and Wan U performed CPR on Caldwell while athletic director Raymond Shipps and Jason Rogers called 911 and helped paramedics get into the school.

"Their parents trust us with their lives and we take that kind of thing serious,” Shipps said. “When this happened, there's no way that we were going to stand back and just let this young man just lie there on the ground without us helping him."

EMSA presented the school with a trophy as a thanks for all the help and teamwork from the Edison staff.
