The Tulsa man who beat his roommate to death in December 2014 will spend the rest of his life in prison.

A jury convicted Joel Giefer of killing Ted Kissel.

Prosecutors say Kissel advertised for a roommate on Craigslist and lived with Giefer for two months before the attack.

Kissel was a welding student with a fiancée and no criminal history; police said he simply needed a roommate to help pay rent. They said a dispute over that rent money led to his violent, gruesome death.

Investigators say before Kissel's death, Giefer told a friend he was going to kill the man and get rid of the body.
