Traffic Stop Leads To Kidnapping Arrest By Cushing Police

An Oklahoma City man has been arrested on several complaints -- including for kidnapping, drugs and illegal firearms -- after a Cushing police officer followed up on a traffic stop.

According to a report, an officer stopped a vehicle on Tuesday about 5 p.m. after observing the truck driving recklessly.

The man told police he was rushing his girlfriend to the hospital and a female passenger was crying and holding her stomach , the report says. The officer followed the man to the hospital, and while the woman was being seen by medical staff, the officer completed the traffic stop. The man didn’t have his driver’s license, but told the officer his name was David Goodman and gave his date of birth, the report says.

“Based on the information given, [the officer] completed his contact and issued Goodman three citations for reckless driving, no insurance and expired tag,” the report says.

Two hours later, the officer found out the name given by the man was not his real identity, and that his real name was Jonathan Goodman, a 31-year-old convicted felon.

According to the report, the officer went back to the hospital to talk with the woman, who said she moved to Cushing to get away from Goodman.

The woman said that earlier in the day, Goodman came to her home and was angry. He took her phone so she could not call anyone for help, and when she tried to leave, he pointed a rifle at her and told her to go to sleep, the report says. The woman said she told Goodman she needed to fill a prescription and that is where they were going when the traffic stop occurred.

The officer went to the woman’s home and arrested Goodman for obstructing an officer and false impersonation.

According to the report, the woman gave consent for a search, and the officer seized a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana, a digital scale, a partially burned roach, a glass smoking pipe with crystal residue and a stolen AR-15 that was fully loaded with a live round in the chamber, the report says.

Goodman then was booked for additional complaints, including possession of meth within 1,000 feet of a park, marijuana possession, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a firearm after felony conviction, use of firearm while committing a felony, possession of stolen property and kidnapping.
