Firefighters warn Green Country residents to be extra careful this weekend to help prevent even more wildfires like we saw across the state on Friday.

"Probably not a good weekend to grill out even though it is going to be warm, it's just too windy this weekend so we recommend you don't grill and no outside burning of any kind," said Tulsa Fire Captain Stan May.

Captain May says investigators believe a cigarette sparked a Tulsa grass fire Friday afternoon near 91st and Highway 169.  The fire burned about a half mile and even came somewhat close to a couple schools.

Thankfully, firefighters contained the fire and quickly put it out.  But it could have ended up much worse.

As you enjoy this weekend's beautiful weather, Captain Stan May says to be aware and think smart.

News On 6 meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz says eastern Oklahoma has a low wildfire risk Saturday but farther west in central and western Oklahoma, the risk of wildfires are much higher.
