The volunteer organization 'City Year Tulsa' hosted its third Martin Luther King Jr.Day of Service.
The group is teaming up with volunteers from Cox Communications, Starbucks, QuikTrip, and other area organizations to work on beautification projects at Hawthorne Elementary School in north Tulsa.
Because City Year is an education non-profit, the group says their MLK Service Day projects involve helping turn schools into more engaging, educational and vibrant places for students to learn and play.
"Opportunities like today bring us together with our partners from City Year," said Tiffani Bruton, Cox Communications director of public affairs.
"This gives us a chance to really stand beside each other, make a difference, show our commitment to diversity and inclusion."
The organization is doing various service projects - including painting murals throughout the school, outdoor projects, and organizing the library.
