Tulsa Educators Work Together Toward Teacher Of The Year Honors

Tulsa teachers are working together to help each other become Teacher of the Year material. 

Teacher of the year nominees attended a special professional development class Friday to learn from others who have earned the honor in the past. 

Former Teachers of the Year worked with other educators to create portfolios explaining why they would be good candidates for this year's Teacher of the Year awards. 

"This is their chance to really toot their own horn and say 'You know what, I'm a teacher, I'm proud of that and I'm going to tell you why I'm good,'" said Lynnette Shouse, Grissom Elementary School.

The portfolios created with be used to help determine the winner of the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year.
