Tulsa County Levee workers were out early Thursday filling sand bags as they practiced for a levee failure scenario.

Officials say the four employees practiced filling sand bags to be used if the levee broke somewhere along the Arkansas River.

Tulsa County Levee Commissioner Todd Kilpatrick says they worked at night because you don't know when a break will happen and they want to be prepared for any circumstance.

"It's very critical when you think of the storm systems that have came through recently.  We've been very fortunate that they've been east and south of us and our watershed.  So it's very timely," said Todd Kilpatrick, Tulsa County Levee Commissioner.

If this had been a real emergency, Kilpatrick says they would called on volunteers to help build these dikes, along with agencies like the U.S. Corps of Engineers and the Oklahoma National Guard.
