Police say a man was shot Monday night in an argument over a 14-year-old girl.

Officers said they were called to the 4900 block of South College Avenue just after 11:15 p.m. in reference to a shooting. They found a man who had been shot.

A witness told police a silver four-door Toyota sedan parked behind her home and the people inside were trying to talk to her daughter. Police said they argued with her when she told them to leave.

Police said the victim came out of the house and confronted the people in the car. Officers said someone in the backseat shot at the victim, striking him in the side. The car drove off. EMSA took the victim to the hospital with what police said was a non-life threatening wound.

Police said they know who the driver of the car was.
