A 7-month-old child is much better, after police found the baby alone in a house, crawling around broken glass and a floor heater.

Police said the baby's mom, Brady Ross, was passed out in another room.

It was the second time police were called to the house to investigate a crime in the past few months.

The first time, Jenks police found stolen vehicles at the home and arrested multiple people, including the homeowner.

At the time, homeowner, Aaron Bennett, told police he let friends stay at his home and had no idea the cars were stolen; he had a similar story Friday.

Thursday, police found Ross passed out, and her 7-month-old baby on the floor, crying just feet away from broken glass and a floor heater.

Detective Michael Gauldin with Jenks police said, "There was no one else in the home to oversee it, so, the child was in a situation where it could have gotten injured or killed."

The baby was okay, except for a dirty diaper and a rash.

Ross finally woke up when paramedics carried her out.

"She was not coherent enough to be able to respond to us physically trying to wake her up. There's no way she could have responded to her child if something bad would have happened," Gauldin said.

Ross faces a child neglect charge.

Bennett told police he was trying to be a good friend to the mother and child.

"They were evicted from where they have been living, so he offered to allow them to live with him," Gauldin said.

News On 6 was at the same house in November when police found a few stolen vehicles parked outside.

Back then, Bennett told detectives he had no idea the vehicles - including a motorcycle in the kitchen - were stolen.

Gauldin said, "One of the biggest things we try to tell people is if you aren't very well informed of who your friends are, or their background, you need to be careful because, as a homeowner, you could be held liable."

Bennett was arrested in November for possessing a stolen vehicle, but not this time.

The baby is now in the care of family, as DHS investigates.
