For the Golden Hurricane, it's a new year, a new team and a new attitude. " We're going to come out swinging and we're not scared of anyone," said TU quarterback Dane Evans.
Philip Montgomery plans on going into Saturday’s game as he would any other. "They're 16th in the country, and I think in a lot of people's minds they probably could be higher,” he stated. “But you don't approach any games with the thoughts of, ‘hey, they're a lot better than us,’ or they're this, they're that. Can't get shell shocked, can't get wowed by the crowd, we've got to go in there and focus on the little things."
At least TU comes in with coaches that are familiar with success against the Sooners. Defensive Coordinator Bill Young faced OU from 2009-12 while he was at OSU, and Montgomery's offense at Baylor racked up 544 yards last year in total offense in Norman. “I just don't think you're going to be surprised by things,” Montgomery explained. “We do have experience going against each other. I think that same thing holds true for them.”
Evans said he watched the game against Baylor last year and said the offense took what the defense gave them. It remains to be seen how Evans and his explosive offensive, can take what the defense gives them in Norman.
