Drought conditions are creeping back into Oklahoma.  In particular, the southeastern corner of the state is seeing an increase in drought conditions.

The latest figures from Drought Monitor, released August 20, show most of McCurtain County, or 2 percent of Oklahoma is in the severe drought category.  A week ago, McCurtain County and several surrounding counties or 1 percent of the state was only in the moderate drought category.  That category is now up to 10 percent.

Elsewhere, much of the rest of southeastern and a small portions of north central Oklahoma and around the Tulsa area or 31 percent of the state is classified as abnormally dry. A week ago, that number was 13 percent.

Back In May, the Drought Monitor showed for the most part, Oklahoma's drought was almost gone.
