The new issue of a popular health magazine looks at what it calls "Take Out Nation." An article in Shape says many time-saving meals can be healthier than home-cooked food. Registered dietitian Samantha Heller joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss why ordering out could be healthier today.
Many new services are offering delivery from healthier restaurants that don't deliver themselves. Other restaurants now specialize in making healthy meals. Some of those, pre-made and packaged for easy reheating, you can pick up and have available to cut down on impulse eating.
Millennials are embracing the trend as are busy families who have limited time for shopping and cooking.
It's a $70 billion per year industry, Heller said, which also brings up the downside. It's an incredibly convenient - but expensive trend. Others may feel it cuts down on family activities like shopping and cooking with children.
