Tulsa Fire Chief Ray Driskell on Friday cooked lunch for firefighters at Station 15 to thank them for their outstanding service.

A woman who lives in the area credits the firefighters for keeping her husband alive for years.

She and her husband called them their "Angels in Blue.”

She would call them directly when she needed help and the firefighters got to know her very well, responding to her calls a few times every month for years.

Today, the chief thanked them for going above and beyond, by cooking lunch for the humble crew.

“It's nice, but we didn't do anything any other fire station wouldn't do,” TFD Capt. Barrett Cramer said. “I just feel like maybe sometimes people don't say a lot of thanks and all, and she actually wrote a letter for us.”

The grateful woman attended the lunch to thank them as well.

Her husband died a few weeks ago, and the firefighters attended his funeral to show their respect.
