Sixty Tulsa Public Schools middle and high school teachers took a road trip downtown on Wednesday.

They spent the morning touring the offices of One Gas, Bank of Oklahoma and the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The goal is for teachers to get a firsthand look at the work local businesses do in the community so they can take that real world knowledge to enhance their curriculum in the classroom.

"We want teachers to understand what the workforce needs, the skill levels required and the compensation they can let students know is available to them once they graduate,” Kuma Roberts said.

This is the second year the Tulsa Regional Chamber has organized the Road Trip For Teachers program.
