There are new developments in the murder of a Cherokee County rancher.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department now says Charley Kirk's all-terrain vehicle, or mule, was stolen from the scene.

Deputies said it was driven to Keys High School and burned.

Kirk was found shot to death inside his home Monday morning by a ranch hand.

Investigators believe Kirk probably woke up when he heard something, scared the person who had entered the house and was then shot three times.

Family said Kirk was also in the late stages of cancer, but, even as of Sunday, was able to ride his horse.

The sheriff’s office has been flooded with calls from people wanting to help in any way they can. They just ask asking anyone with information to call 918-456-2583.
