Tulsa firefighters say one person was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation following a downtown apartment complex fire. Fire crews were called to the Alden Apartments near 11th and Boulder just before 6 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say the fire started in an oven then moved into the attic. Fire fighters evacuated the building when they arrived to put out the fire.

"It was out in the actual apartment, but it communicated to the attic space which was a very small space," said Assistant Chief Stacy Belk.

They had to cut a hole into the roof to access it, and it was also a challenge to take the hoses four flights up.

Belk said although the fire was confined two a couple rooms on the north side of the complex, there are people who will be displaced. The Red Cross will assist them.

The rest of the building is safe to live in, he said.
